Two weeks out and loving it!
Hi Everyone, Just thought I would write a quick update on how I'm doing since my surgery two weeks ago.
Like I said in a previous post, I was home from the hospital in under two days, I was walking laps around that hospital floor and wearing my own clothes, showering, doing my hair and makeup, etc., etc., so there was really no need to keep me. My bandages fell off by the first week and my incisions were healed within 9 days, I never had any pain with them at all, barely even any soreness.
Dr. Today did my LAP gastric bypass by robot if you can imagine that and it only took an hour and a half. She later told me that my surgery was perfection and I was really easy to do that's why is was so quick. She also said she wished she would have video taped it if she would have known that I would be that perfect of a candidate. Aparantly Bangor is the leader in the NATION in these types of robotic surgeries so it's a pretty big deal. She also said I was the "poster child" for the surgery and am doing wonderfully, YAY! I can't even begin to tell you how excited that makes me. I've had things pretty rough in life lately so it's really nice to finally have something go good from the get go!
I met Dr. Toder for my two week appointment a few days ago and she told me to move onto soft foods, approved me for all exercise and weightlifting, and to get back to work and enjoy myself! I've taken her advice and have started my exercise routine and even went dancing at a wedding the other night! It feels SO good! I'e had absolutely no nausea, vomitting, or anything that I can't tolerate so far. My mother and I went out to lunch at Captain Nick's the other day and I had broiled scallops and some mashed potatoes, SO YUMMY after two week of liquid food and everything stayed down just fine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is always stays that way! LoL
Well anyways, I just wanted to fill people in on my situation as I know you all keep up with each other pretty closely. It's so nice to have support from other people who are going through the same thing. Thanks again!

Hey Darcy!
Isn't that so awesome! I too haven't had any complications. And Dr Cobean said mine was real easy as well. My incisions took a lot longer to heal though. I couldn't graduate to soft foods until 1 month!!
So.... have you weighed in?? What are your stats? I want to see your Ticker!! I sadly, weigh myself everyday and I need to stop doing that!! But as soon as I get up I am drawn to it like a magnet!
Wow, you sound great!! I'm soooo jealous! LOL I had hoped for the "Poster Girl" scenario too, but ended up being the "Problem Child!" LOL You seem to be moving right along. I can't believe you even ate at a restaurant without any problems. That's awesome!
I love checking out everyone's Ticker Tape, so I hope you'll add one so we can celebrate your progress with you! Keep up the great work!
Blessings, Yvonne
Thanks so much for the encouragement guys! I'll get working on that ticker once I figure out how to do it.
To answer some questions, I've lost 19lbs in two weeks! I asked Dr. Toder if that was good and she looked at me funny and said, "When have you ever lost 19lb in two weeks?" LoL. "Yes it's good!".
I too am a scale aholic I find. I also check it every morning and sometime at night too. I need to stop because my nutritionist told me yesterday that it will take me twice as long to loose the next 19lb and to not let that get me down. I think I was getting accustomed to seeing the scale jump down every day, now I'll have to take it a bit slower especially since I will be starting weight training and hopefully gaining some muscle. I do have to say this though, my clothes are already fitting much better! I'll take that any day over a number on a scale!
Yvonne, I really hope that things start looking up for you. You have the right attitude and determination, lifes just throwing you a few hurdles right now. I'll be thinking positive for you that things start turning around quickly!
